I decided to take up Chess in 2023 to feed my competitive streak during the winter months. I was apprehensive on my first visit to the club but within a month I had played my first competitive game and have not looked back since. I’m now always looking forward to Monday evenings!

I hadn’t played chess since I was a kid but after playing a bit more online I decided to check out Gosforth Chess Club and have now regained my obsession with the game! We have a great club with lots of opportunities for both competitive chess and casual/social games. I’m pleased to have joined the committee to help run our development programme for members.
